Mount Zion
This hike is about 2.5 miles up, 2.5 back, 1,400 feet of elevation. It takes about 2 hours to go from the parking lot to the scenic overlook and back. Don’t be fooled by the bad view when you reach the peak! There’s a scenic view just 3/4 of a mile past the official top of Mt. Zion.
Good size parking lot at the end of a couple miles of gravel roads. There is a permanent park type toilet (no plumbing) available.
Most of the hike is in the trees.
This cool root that grew into an old stump is now exposed.
Nice shade throughout the hike
The wonderful hanging moss is everywhere.
Here is the view from the overlook. To get here you have to hike past the “top” about 20 minutes.
