Upper Quilcene via Marmot Pass

This is a long hike with about 3,500 ft of elevation gain. It is a workout worth doing! There are great views and varied terrain.
The drive out requires traversing some dirt roads.
But the parking area is pretty spacious.

The first couple miles follow this stream.
After breaking out of the forest, make sure to also look down for the marmots living on the hillside.
There are open areas where you ocan take in the sun and mountain views.
The wildflowers are also happy in the tree free zones.
Towards the top is an area where several trails converge.
If you aren’t tired, there is one additional peak you can explore above these trees.
This signpost is also a reasonable place to stop! Call it a day and head back the way you came.
