Mobile Carnival Museum

Learn the history of Mardi Gras from the place it truly started – Mobile, Alabama! This museum includes many eclectic items from Mardi Gras past and (relatively) present. Not great for kids, but fun for adults. The gift shop (at the entrance) has fun Mardi Gras themed items such as hats, beads, rubber ducks, and foam footballs for purchase.

When you enter, the greeters encourage you to view an 8-minute movie explaining the event’s history (it plays every 30 minutes). After viewing the museum, explore! As you walk around the museum there are numbered placards. You can call 251-288-6107 and enter the number to get a self-guided tour explanation of the item (during this call, 1: rewind, 2: pause/play, 3: fast forward, #: stop, 0: feedback).
